Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov arrives in the Republic of Tajikistan

On March 19, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived on a two-day working visit in the Republic of Tajikistan, was met by Deputy Prime Minister of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim and the Ambassador of Russia to the Republic of Tajikistan Igor Lyakin-Frolov at the Dushanbe International Airport.

The working visit of Tatarstan delegation to Tajikistan will start with a visit to two plants in Dushanbe. They will visit the Tajik-Turkish joint venture for assembling Akia Avesto buses and the Dushanbe Nokili Talco Cable Plant.

Meeting between Tatarstan President and Tajikistan President Emomali Rahmon is scheduled in the afternoon.

In the National Library of the republic, Tatarstan – Tajikistan Business Forum, with participation of Tajikistan Prime Minister Kokhir Rasulzoda, where mutual presentation of the economic potential of the republics, will be held.

Tatarstan President also plans to meet activists of the Tatar public institutions, living in Tajikistan.

Today, about 17,000 of our compatriots live in Tajikistan. The Duslyk Tatar-Bashkir social and cultural centre, established in Dushanbe in 1991, is the main organizer of national and cultural life of Tatars.

On March 20, Minnikhanov plans to visit a number of social and cultural facilities in Dushanbe and to get acquainted with the activity of the Nurek Hydroelectric Power Plant. At the invitation of Tajikistan President, Minnikhanov will take part in the celebration of the Navruz International holiday of spring.

One of the highest indicators of trade turnover between Tatarstan and Tajikistan was recorded in 2017, when it increased more than 3 times and exceeded 30 million US dollars. This figure decreased significantly in 2018 and Tatarstan President set the task to strengthen work to increase mutual trade turnover.

KAMAZ Automaker and Tatneft Oil Company are leaders among the enterprises, cooperating with Tajikistan. As many as 1077 students from Tajikistan are studying at Tatarstan universities.
