Tatarstan President visits Izhmash Museum in Izhevsk

On March 12, during his working visit to Izhevsk (the capital of the Udmurt Republic, Russian region), Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Izhmash Museum, with the history dating back to 1827 and introducing the rich history of the Izhevsk Armory, nowadays, the Kalashnikov Concern, with a total of 430 samples of small arms and bladed weapons and more than two dozen motorcycles produced previously at the enterprise.

Minnikhanov started the tour around the museum with the hall, introducing the history of development of weapons production in Izhevsk.

He looked around the stand devoted to the history of the machine-building plant № 74, this is the way the Izhevsk enterprise was called during the Great Patriotic War. During those years, gunsmiths produced over 20 different types of military products.

Tatarstan President got acquainted with the exposition dedicated to the legendary small arms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov.

Nowadays, the Kalashnikov Concern is a huge holding, uniting several multi-profile enterprises. The museum presents modern models of military, sporting and hunting weapons.

At the end of the excursion, Minnikhanov visited the hall with the Izh motorcycle collection. The most unique exhibit is Izh-1 motorcycle, produced in a single copy in 1929.
