On February 28, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with senior managers of Potomac and Woz-U American Universities.
Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Education and Science Rafis Burganov, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Regional Minister of Information and Communications Roman Shaykhutdinov, Aide to Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov, Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina and Rector of the University of Management “TISBI” Nella Pruss took part in the meeting.
During his working visit to San Francisco (the USA) in October 2018, Minnikhanov had already met representatives of American universities.
“At our last meeting, we discussed the prospects for cooperation and the opportunity of pilot implementation of K-12 programme in the computer sciences, operating in the USA, in TISBI. The K-12 includes programming, design, engineering, robotics and other areas. This initiative is being developed under the Strategy-2030 on development of Human Capital,” Minnikhanov said.
Pruss said that the University of Management had been studying the topic and methods of training specialists, proposed by American universities, in detail for several months. “The competence training is the most attractive in this system. This direction is barely beginning in our schools. Here there is a full guarantee that in 10 years, they will give students specific competencies, necessary for our industry,” the rector said.
Minullina said that American universities also develop educational programmes for specific clients. Today, universities cooperate with a number of US enterprises and train the necessary staff.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to establish a working group for a detailed study of the programme and its adaptation to Russian conditions.
