On January 16, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the 10th Gaidar Forum, where the results of the rating of innovative regions of Russia were announced. Tatarstan ranked second in the national rating.
The rating includes 29 indicators. The three basic blocks include research and development, innovation and socio-economic conditions of innovation. The Innovative Activity of the Region, a new thematic block of the rating developed in 2016, reflects the activity of all participants in the regional innovation system in the application of existing federal instruments for supporting innovation, attracting investments and in cooperation with federal development institutions. It also assesses the activity of regional authorities in the organization of innovative activities and the creation of innovative infrastructure facilities, the specific parameters of the intensity and efficiency of regional innovation policy.
Saint Petersburg, Tatarstan and Moscow are still the leaders of the rating this year. However, since 2012, for the first time in the history of the existence of the rating, Tatarstan has moved from the third place to the second place. Thus, Moscow moved to the third place and the Northern capital fixed on the first place.
