Rustam Minnikhanov: Cooperation between Kazan university and Riken is useful

President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov has met with President of the Institute for Physical and Chemical Research Riken (Japan), laureate of Nobel Prize in chemistry Ryoji Noyori.
The meeting was held at the RT Government House with participation of the RT Minister of education and science Albert Gilmutdinov, Director of the Department for external relations – Aide to RT President on international issues Iskander Muflikhanov, rector of Kazan (Volga) federal university Ilshat Gafurov and others.
Delegation of the Japan’s largest Institute for Physical and Chemical Research Riken led by the President, laureate of Nobel Prize in chemistry 2011, professor Ryoji Noyori arrived on May 2 for opening the joint research laboratory complex at K(V)FU.
The Research laboratory complex KFU - Riken was officially opened in presence of Ryoji Noyori and Ilshat Gafurov. It comprises laboratories of femtosecond spectroscopy, physics of strongly correlated systems, synthesis and analysis of thin-film systems.
To the point, the Kazan university and Riken signed the Agreement on partnership within the International program of joint postgraduate study in 2008. Main purpose is training of highly skilled specialists in physics. Both Russian and Japanese scientists will supervise researches.
Moreover, the decision about giving the title “Honorable doctor of the Kazan university” to the President of Riken institute, Nobel laureate in chemistry Ryoji Noyori was made at the session of K(V)FU administration in 2011.
At today’s meeting at the RT Government House Rustam Minnikhanov marked that lately cooperation between the Kazan university and Riken had been rather fruitful. The Tatarstan leader called opening of research laboratories KFU -Riken another striking event in scientific life of republic.
