On December 4, during his working visit to Helsinki, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with President of Finland Sauli Niinistö. Russia’s Ambassador to Finland Pavel Kuznetsov and Aide to Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov took part in the meeting.
Minnikhanov thanked the President for an opportunity to meet. He stressed that the leaders of Russia and Finland pay great attention to creating favorable conditions for the development of interregional cooperation.
“Our countries have good-neighborly relations. In its turn, Tatarstan attaches great importance to cooperation with your country. Last year, our trade turnover reached 560 million US dollars, which is 1.5 times more than in 2016,” Tatarstan President said.
Minnikhanov told the President about the experience in interacting with Finnish companies, particular features of mutual trade, interaction in the field of education, science and tourism, contacts between universities.
The meeting also talked about the local Tatar Diaspora, noting their active position in the preservation of native culture, traditions and language.
At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov invited President of Finland to visit Tatarstan during his next visit to Russia.
