Rustam Minnikhanov holds regular meeting of the Regional Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of Worldskills Championship - 2019 in Kazan

On December 3, in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with participation of Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin and Director General of the Young Professionals Union (Worldskills Russia) Robert Urazov held a regular meeting of the Regional Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of Worldskills Championship - 2019 in Kazan.

Opening the meeting, Minnikhanov said that less than a year remained before the start of the Championship.

“This is a strategic project for Tatarstan” Minnikhanov emphasized. He also added that the final of the 7th National Championship “Young Professionals” (WorldSkills Russia) will take place in Kazan on May 20-24, 2019. During this event, the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Centre will be tested and the work will be organized in all functional areas.

He emphasized that the world championship will be held in Kazan on August 22-27, 2019.

“The total expected number of participants, visitors, guests of the competition is about 200,000 people. The work of the operational headquarters and 13 working groups is underway. Today, we will discuss pressing issues and will hear reports of the working groups’ heads on the preparations for the championship in the main areas,” he said.

Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Education and Science Rafis Burganov informed about the preparation of the competitive programme and the development of the WorldSkills movement.

There were also reports on ensuring integrated security during the preparation and holding of the championship, ensuring medical and sanitary-epidemiological well-being, providing communication and telecommunications infrastructure, ensuring interaction with the media and informational support of events.

The opening and closing ceremonies of the championship will be held at the Central Stadium in Kazan.

The WorldSkills movement is gaining momentum in Russia and in the world, thus, according to the experts the number of WorldSkills-2019 participants may increase significantly.

Urazov said that it is necessary to provide the possibility of increasing the competitions areas and accommodation for the participants of the championship.

Minnikhanov instructed to work on this issue and to provide the possibility of reserve places for accommodation, competitions venues and other necessary services.
