On November 21, at the Government House of the republic at a regional video-conference, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in a strategic session on the implementation of the Strategy for Social and Economic Development of Tatarstan – 2030 and its amendments.
Chairman of Tatarstan State Council Farid Mukhametshin, Acting Prime Minister of the republic Rustam Nigmatullin and representatives of ministries and departments of the republic also took part in the meeting.
Rector of the Higher School of Economics Yaroslav Kuzminov and Deputy Director General for Research at the International Centre for Social and Economic Research “Leontief Centre” Boris Zhikharevich spoke as experts.
Making a keynote report, Nigmatullin said that the republic is facing the task of increasing the gross regional product to 5 trillion roubles by 2030. Tatarstan is systematically moving towards its indicator. It is estimated that GRP will amount to 2 trillion 253 billion roubles in 2018.
The main drivers of economic development are the petrochemical complex, which forms about a third of the regional economy, engineering, which amounts to over 23 per cent of the volume in the industrial structure and developed infrastructure for business and agriculture.
Nigmatullin emphasized that the opinions of the residents of the republic were taken into account in developing and complementing of the Strategy. The citizens sent over 3,500 initiatives.
The quality of life of the population of the republic is at the very core of the Stategy-2030.
