Rustam Minnikhanov visits the film set of “Zuleikha opens her eyes” movie

On November 21, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Semruk historical settlement, built for the shooting of "Zuleikha opens her eyes" feature film in the Laishevo region.

Tatarstan Minister of Culture Irada Ayupova and film producer Ilya Papernov gave a tour around the film set for Minnikhanov. He looked around the movie set of the Semruk working special settlement and talked to the actors.

The Semruk is the first multi-functional movie set in Tatarstan, built for the shooting of a full-length feature film.

The passage of the novel “Zuleikha opens her eyes” was first published in the issue of the Siberian Lights magazine on May, 2014. It describes the fate and life of dispossessed peasants. The events took place 10 years before the start of the World War II.

The author of the work Gouzel Yakhina became the winner of the National Literary Award “Big Book”. The novel has been translated into 18 languages by 2017 and staged in the Bashkir Drama Theater.
