Tatarstan President gets acquainted with the production of cars at GAC factory in China

On November 15, during his working visit to Guangdong Province (China), Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the GAC automobile factory.

Founded in 1997, GAC is a Chinese automobile maker headquartered in Guangzhou. The factory is the tenth largest automaker in China. GAC sells passenger cars under the Trumpchi brand, passenger cars and commercial vehicles under the Gonow brand, SUVs under the Changfeng Motor brand, and buses under the GAC Bus brand.

GAC cars are also sold in the Middle East, Africa and South America - a total of 13 export markets.

Minnikhanov looked around the production sites, got acquainted with the technological process of car production. In the assembly shop, Tatarstan President was shown automated lines for welding structures, installing glass and other components. GAC representatives told Minnikhanov that the introduction of robotic systems is one of the company's strategies aimed at increasing output and improving productivity.

Minnikhanov was demonstrated samples of cars and off-road vehicles produced. The company had announced its intention to enter the Russian market. The first GAC models are planned to be presented in show rooms in Russia in 2019.

At his meeting with senior executives of the company, Minnikhanov noted a high level of organization of production process and a wide model range. The meeting also discussed prospects for cooperation between Tatarstan and the GAC automobile company in various area.
