On November 12, at the end of the fourth meeting of the Russia-Islamic World Strategic Vision Group, Tatarstan President and Chairman of the Group Rustam Minnikhanov handed in the national award “Russia - Islamic World”, which is annually awarded for contribution to the enhancement and dissemination of knowledge about Islam, mutual understanding between the peoples of Russia and the harmonization of state-confessional relations.
As many as 34 applications have been submitted this year. The jury, chaired by academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vice-President for Research at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Vitaly Naumkin, decided to award Rishat Khamidullin (Khuzur Publishing House, Tatarstan) for his film “Just about the Most Important”, which includes social videos of anti-extremist orientation and aimed at prevention of interreligious and interethnic intolerance and Khadzhimurad Radzhabov (Dagestan) for his documentary “Man and Faith” on the spiritual, moral and patriotic upbringing of young people, promoting culture of interfaith dialogue in the society, strengthening peace and mutual respect.
The Primakov International Award “Russia-Islamic World” for the contribution to the strengthening of mutual understanding and cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Islamic world and interpenetration of cultural and national traditions, to the development of interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue is handed over to representatives of foreign media. Now, the contest is not completed and applications will be accepted until November, 23.
