Rustam Minnikhanov takes part in the First Russia-Uzbekistan Forum of Interregional Cooperation

On October 19, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of Russia Vladimir Putin delivered their welcoming speeches at a plenary meeting of the First Russia-Uzbekistan Forum of Interregional Cooperation that focused on agriculture as a priority area in the development of Russia-Uzbekistan relations.

In his speech, Putin mentioned that KAMAZ Automaker together with other Russian companies is successfully cooperating with Uzbekistan. “Rosselmash, KAMAZ, Evrotsement and other Russian companies are expanding their presence in the Uzbek market,” he said discussing the economic ties between the two countries.

Putin noted that Russia and Uzbekistan have gained good experience in cooperation in the power engineering sector, in the production, processing and transportation of hydrocarbons and added that the volume of accumulated Russian investments in the Uzbek economy is approaching 9 billion US dollars.

A ceremony of launching a joint project to build a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan was the key event during the meeting. Mirziyeev and Putin launched the project by pressing the symbolic button.

Speaking at the meeting, Hokim of Tashkent Region Gulomzhon Ibragimov and Chairman of Jokargy Kenes of the Republic of Karakalpakstan Musa Erniyazov, who recently visited Tatarstan to look into the economic potential of the republic and areas for possible cooperation, stressed that their ties with Tatarstan are developing dynamically with the support of the leaders of the two countries. They said that the regions are interested in expanding the mutual presence of their leading companies. It was noted that KAMAZ, Tatneft, Pozis, Tatspirtprom, Himgrad and other enterprises of Tatarstan are of high interest in the Uzbek market.
