On October 17, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Aide to Russian President Igor Levitin and Head of the Federal Road Transport Agency (Rosavtodor) Andrey Kostyuk took part in an opening ceremony of three sections of the M7 Volga highway from Kazan to Naberezhnye Chelny after reconstruction.

The total length of the road from Kazan to Naberezhnye Chelny is 220 kilometers. The M-7 Volga highway was built according to the standards of the second technical category and has become completely outdated in traffic capacity and safety over the years.

In his welcoming speech, Levitin noted that the renovated road is a transit one and is of great importance not only for the republic, but also for the whole country. He also added that a number of other large-scale projects in the road construction area are planned to be implemented in the republic in the future.

“Tatarstan President approved the programme for the development of transport infrastructure until 2024. One of the projects is the construction of Moscow-Kazan Highway. New technologies will be used in its construction. This is a new way from Moscow to Kazan and further to China,” Levitin said.

“We have a number of significant tracks toward China, M5, M7, bypass and access to Nizhnekamsk and Naberezhnye Chelny. All our applications are underway. We thank Russian Government and federal colleagues for their support. We have major plans and they will be implemented,” Minnikhanov added.

Then, the honored quests launched the traffic along the reconstructed road section.
