On October 10, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Chief of Staff of President’s of the republic Administration Asgat Safarov, Aide to President of the republic Olesya Baltusova, Regional Minister of Culture Irada Ayupova, Regional Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Utilities Irek Faizullin, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and other officials had a tour around the Sotsgorod microdistrict in Kazan, formerly also known as Ordzhonikidze village.
In her opening speech, Baltusova said that on April 28 of the current year, Ministry of Culture of the republic approved the Sightseeing Place status of this territory, namely, cultural heritage object of regional significance, Sergo Ordzhonikidze Village (Sotsgorod), 1938 - 1954.
During the tour, Assistant Professor of Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering Marsel Iskandarov and the Sotsgorod citizen Natalya Ureiskaya told Tatarstan President about the history of the development of the microdistrict and about the features of architectural and town-planning solutions at that time.
Iskandarov said that not only specialists but also ordinary citizens are interested in the history of the Sotsgorod and the architectural features of its facilities. A sightseeing tour about the district is being developed today.
At the meeting with local residents, Kazan citizens thanked Minnikhanov for the renovation of Krylya Sovetov park and culture centre named after Lenin.
According to Tatarstan President, while improving the historical sites, it is necessary to preserve the system of green areas and pedestrian zones, avoiding infill construction.
