On October 8, during his working visit to Japan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikanov had a meeting with Governor of Ishikawa Prefecture Masanori Tanimoto. Deputy Prime Minister of the republic - Tatarstan Minister of Information and Communications Roman Shaykhutdinov, Aide to Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov, Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina and other officials took part in the meeting.
Welcoming Minnikhanov, Tanimoto thanked him for the visit. In his turn, Tatarstan President expressed his gratitude to the Governor for the opportunity to have meeting on the eve of the Tatarstan-Japanese Business Forum.
“I would like to note a well-organized working visit of our delegation and express my deep appreciation for your hospitality,” Tatarstan President said.
He added that Tatarstan has established good cooperation with the RIKEN Institute, which is a strategic partner of Kazan Federal University and there are student exchange programmes.
Minnikhanov suggested expanding further cooperation in joint research projects, internships, etc.
"We see that relations between our countries are strengthening. Russian President Vladimir Putin had a meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Vladivostok. We should establish contacts at the regional level," Minnikhanov noted.
“Ishikawa is one of the most interesting, picturesque provinces of Japan with rich history and traditions. Your region is famous for its traditional silk painting, gilding technique with the finest sheets of pure gold, ceramics and many other unique products of local craftsmen and also fine cuisine. We will be glad to establish cooperation between Tatarstan and the province of Ishikawa,” Minnikhanov said.
He informed the governor about the economy of the republic and said that Tatarstan has gained good experience of cooperation with Japanese partners, in particular, Mitsui Company, Yokogawa Electric Corporation and Mitsubishi Fuzo.
Technologies and capital of many Japanese companies were used in the construction of petrochemical industries, the development of health care and agriculture, IT-development of the republic.
Tatarstan President noted that the republic pays serious attention to the development of IT sphere, new materials, nano- and biotechnologies and robotics. Innovation infrastructure has been developed in the last few years.
At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov invited Tanimoto to visit Tatarstan.
