On October 8, during Tatarstan-Japan Business Forum held in the city of Kanazawa in Japan, President of the republic Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan is actively developing international and foreign economic cooperation and is ready to expand cooperation with representatives of Japanese business and Ishikawa Prefecture.
Special Adviser to the Prime Minister of Japan Eiichi Hasegawa welcomed the participants and congratulated them on the opening of the Business Forum. Consul General of the Russian Federation in Niigata Mikhail Sergeev noted that the regional component is an important part of international relations and wished the participants successful and fruitful work and the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation.
Welcoming the participants of the forum, Tatarstan President thanked the representatives of Japanese business for their interest in the republic. He noted that Tatarstan delegation included the heads of ministries and departments, representatives of enterprises of the republic. “We expect that during the visit, business circles will open new areas for interaction and negotiate about joint projects,” Minnikhanov added.
He thanked the leadership of Ishikawa Prefecture, the Russian Embassy in Japan, the Russian Consulate General in Niigata and the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO) for their assistance in holding a business forum.
President of the republic emphasized that Tatarstan attaches great importance to the development of cooperation with Japan as part of Russian-Japanese relations.
Tatarstan has a good experience of interaction with Japanese partners, in particular, Mitsui Company, Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Mitsubishi Fuzo, Panasonic, Fujitsu and many other enterprises.
Tatarstan also interacts with the Japan Association for Trade with Russia and New Independent States (ROTOBO) and the Japanese External Trade Organization (JETRO).
Technologies and capital of many Japanese companies were used in the construction of petrochemical industries, the development of health care and agriculture and IT-development of the republic.
Minnikhanov expressed his confidence that the representative office of Tatarstan in Japan will contribute to strengthening the further development of Tatarstan-Japanese cooperation.
Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina made a presentation of the investment and industrial potential of the republic. Deputy Prime Minister of the republic - Tatarstan Minister of Information and Communications Roman Shaykhutdinov inroduced the information and technological potential of the republic. Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov made a presentation of projects in the field of digital medicine and informed about the cooperation of the university with Kanazawa University and RIKEN Institute of Physical and Chemical Research in Japan.
At the end of the forum, representatives of Japanese business thanked Tatarstan delegation for the visit and expressed their readiness for further cooperation.
