Rustam Minnikhanov visits Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle Park

On October 8, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived on a working visit in Japan, visited Kenrokuen Garden and Kanazawa Castle Park.

Kenrokuen Garden is Kanazawa’s largest park and one of Japan’s three famous parks. The name means the garden of six sublimities. Initially, it was the garden of Kanazawa Castle. The park was established in the 17th century and opened to the public in 1875.

The total area of the park is 114,436.65 square meters with a lot of trees, flowers and other plants, ponds, waterfalls, streams, bridges. An ancient fountain and tea house are among the attractions of the park.

Tatarstan President looked around the main alley, the Japanese Tea House and other areas of the park and noted the professional approach to its organization.

Minnikhanov also visited Kanazawa Castle Park. A university was at the Castle until 1989. During the Second World War, it was the headquarters of the imperial army of Japan. Today, the complex is open to the public.

In the castle of Kanazawa, you find the traditional defensive systems of Japan of the 18th century, in particular, a double earthen berm, a machicoulis, hidden firing port, watch towers.
