On October 8, during his working visit to Japan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited Kanazawa University.
The presentation of the World Premier International Research Centre (WPI) and the laboratory of unmanned control was organized for Minnikhanov and members of the Tatarstan delegation. Kanazawa University has been developing autonomous vehicles for more than three years and these vehicles are licensed to be deployed on urban roads in Kanazawa.
According to Rector of Kanazawa University, Professor Koetsu Yamazaki, Kanazawa University is among top 20 universities in Japan. Currently, more than 10,000 people, including 350 foreign students, are studying there.
The University has three colleges that offer 16 undergraduate programmes, including College of Human and Social Sciences, College of Science and Engineering, College of Medical, Pharmaceutical and Health Sciences.
It was particularly noted that the University of Kanazawa interacts with universities worldwide. Thus, it has been cooperating with Kazan Federal University since 1998.
On January 17, 2018 in Kanazawa, the representatives of Kazan Federal University and University of Kanazawa signed agreements on student and academic exchange, as well as on conducting research in the field of cancer research together with the Kazan Oncology Centre of the republic.
In October this year, almost 70 Japanese students will visit Kazan University and more than 20 students from Kazan will be sent to Kanazawa University.
At the end of the presentation, documents on cooperation between University of Kanazawa and Kazan Federal University were signed in the presence of Tatarstan President.
At their meeting held afterwards, Minnikhanov and Koetsu Yamazaki discussed prospects for further cooperation between the two universities. In particular, Minnikhanov stressed that the exchange of students and inter-university cooperation is one of the priorities of joint work. “We are interested in further expanding cooperation with Kanazawa University,” he said.
Minister of Information and Communication of the republic Roman Shaykhutdinov, Aide to Tatarstan President Radik Gimatdinov, Head of Tatarstan Investment Development Agency Taliya Minullina, Deputy Prime Minister of the republic Leila Fazleeva, Rector of Kazan Federal University Ilshat Gafurov and other officials accompanied Minnikhanov.
