On September 7, in Kazan, Chairman of Gazprom Management Committee Alexey Miller together with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the Temple of the Decent of the Holy Spirit and the St. Gurias Orthodox Gymnasium, which has been operating in the temple since 2014.
Miller talked to students of the Orthodox Gymnasium and Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan. Junior pupils of the Orthodox Gymnasium presented Miller and Minnikhanov their drawings.
In 2014, under the Tatinvestgrazhdanproekt project, the restoration of the building of the Temple of the Descent of the Holy Spirit was started. On the 27th of December, 2015, Metropolitan of Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan performed the Great consecration of the Temple and the first (since the closing of the church) Divine Liturgy. The church resumed its acts of worship and became a spiritual and cultural centre for both residents of Sukonnaya Sloboda district and the whole Kazan again.
As for the Orthodox Gymnasium, it has been operating in a building where the parochial school was located before the revolution since the 1st of September, 2014.
By September 1, 2018 the solemn opening of the new building of the Orthodox Gymnasium named after St. Gurias of Kazan was held in Kazan. Solemn events on the occasion of the Day of Knowledge began with Divine Liturgy in the Temple, in which the Gymnasium is located. Metropolitan Kazan and Tatarstan Feofan also took part in the opening of the new building.
