Sergei Kiriyenko and Rustam Minnikhanov visit the ancient city of Bolgar

On September, during his working visit to Tatarstan, First Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Executive Office Sergei Kiriyenko together with Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Aide to Tatarstan President Kamil Iskhakov, Rector of Bolgar Islamic Academy Rafik Mukhametshin and Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin visited the Bolgar Islamic Academy and sites of the Bolgar State Historical and Architectural Museum-Reserve.  

During the tour around the Bolgar Islamic Academy, Kiriyenko was told about the specifics of the educational process, cooperation with foreign Muslim universities, the involvement of teachers from Arab countries.

Kirienko looked around training rooms, talked to teachers and students, got acquainted with multimedia systems used in the learning process. He also visited a conference room, a museum, a library with Arabic literature, an archival department, prayer rooms, and a residential block.

Then, Kiriyenko went to the White Mosque. Mufti of Tatarstan Kamil Samigullin told him about the history of the construction of the mosque and its architectural features.

After that, Kiriyenko and Minnikhanov visited the Memorial sign dedicated to the official adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgars in 922, where he was shown the world's largest printed Koran. Besides, Kiriyenko visited the Museum of the Bolgar Civilization and the Cathedral Mosque.
