On September 4, during the Tatarstan Oil and Gas Forum 2018 at the Kazanskaya Yarmarka Exhibition Centre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with representatives and heads of scientific centres of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).

The forum is dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the beginning of the industrial development of oil fields in Tatarstan.

We are very pleased to host such a representative delegation of the Siberian Branch of the RAS in Kazan, Minnikhanov said, addressing Siberian scientists. In 2010 we visited the Siberian Branch and were impressed with what we saw, he continued.

"We have a long history of relations," Minnikhanov reminded. “This cooperation is mutually useful and mutually beneficial. We would like to organize cooperation with all agencies of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Petrochemistry, catalysis, biochemistry and other spheres are very important areas to us," he added.

Tatarstan is an industrial region, and it is important to us to use all scientific achievements, to interact with scientific and research institutions, Minnikhanov stressed.

The meeting also discussed issues of reforming the Russian Academy of Sciences and its branches. The issue of import substitution in terms of scientific development and technology under sanctions was touched upon as well.

A cooperation agreement between the regional Government and the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences was also signed at the meeting.
