Rustam Minnikhanov assesses the pace of harvesting campaign and visits a new meat-packing plant in Mamadysh region

On August 8, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov arrived on a working visit in Mamadysh region to inspect the harvesting campaign and to visit a new meat-packing plant.

The harvesting campaign started in the region on July 28. The grain area is 37,600 hectares. As of today, the grain harvesting has been completed for 9600 hectares.  

A crop yield making 30 centner per hectare in Mamadysh region is one of the best in the republic.

Head of the region Anatoly Ivanov noted that much attention is paid to the development of dairy farming. Mamadysh region is one of the leaders in the republic for the production of milk, with a daily gross milk yield exceeding 170 tonnes.

Under the regional programme, as many as eight cowsheds were overhauled, four vegetable stores and one silage-hay trenches built.

There are 45 family farms, including six technological farms. As many as 136 mini-farms have been built and two agricultural consumer cooperatives registered.

Minnikhanov appreciated the increase of milk production and the growth of cattle stock in the region. At the end of the meeting, Minnikhanov wished grain growers successful harvesting.

Later on the same day, Tatarstan President visited production sites of a new meat-packing plant “Agroindustrial Complex Food Programme” in Otarka village. The meat plant is a production facility built for slaughter and primary processing of cattle with a number of 10 heads per hour, followed by primary processing (cooling and freezing) of meat raw materials on bones and by-products. The plant plans to sell its products both in the republic and in other regions of Russia. Today, there are 97 people working in the plant. In the future, the senior executives intend to employ even more 20 people.
