Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov calls for monitoring the situation with ensuring water safety of people

On July 28, at the Government House of the republic, speaking at a video-conference held by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of the Republic of Tatarstan - Head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Tatarstan Rafis Khabibullin reported that 63 people died on water bodies of the republic since the beginning of the year, while 36 people died in the same period last year.

Minnikhanov called for monitoring the situation with ensuring water safety of people. He said that the weather is hot and that everyone is having rest near water bodies.

"Every year we face the issue of ensuring safety of people on water bodies," said Rustam Minnikhanov. "It is necessary to install prohibitive signs, patrol areas near water bodies, and take other preventive measures."

Tatarstan President also suggested considering the issue of teaching schoolchildren swimming. In particular, he reminded that a large number of sports facilities are being built in municipal regions, with nine more swimming pools being opened soon.
