Rustam Minnikhanov holds meeting of the Russia 2018 Regional Organizing Committee for Preparation and Holding of FIFA World Cup 2018 in Kazan

On July 19, at the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a meeting of the Russia 2018 regional organizing committee for preparation and holding of the FIFA World Cup 2018 in Kazan.

The meeting summed up the results of work of all related agencies during the championship. 

Making a keynote report, Director General of the Executive Directorate of Sports Projects, Head of the Office for the Preparation of Facilities and Organization of Events in Kazan of the Russia 2018 Organizing Committee, Deputy Chairman of the Regional Organizing Committee Azat Kadyrov, said that during the matches of FIFA World Cup, 16,273 people crossed the Russian border in Kazan. The Kazan International Airport accepted about 3,300 flights and served about 330,000 passengers during the championship, which is 40 per cent more than in the same period last year.

He went on to report that as many as 254,448 spectators visited the Kazan Arena Stadium during the matches. On average, 42,408 spectators came to watch football for a match.

A stadium occupancy rate one hour before the start of a match made on average 65.2 per cent.

A total of 3508 media representatives from more than 50 countries worked at the matches.

Under the volunteer programmes, 1,345 volunteers of the organizing committee and 1,040 city volunteers were involved in the event in Kazan.

As many as 56,751 FAN IDs were issued in Kazan, including 24,318 passports on game days.

Speaking at the meeting, Minnikhanov called the FIFA World Cup 2018 a unique event. He noted that, despite the difficult political situation, our country demonstrated hospitality and cordiality to the guests and participants during the championship.

He also expressed his gratitude to all those who ensured law, order and security, but could not watch a single match - representatives of law enforcement agencies, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and others. 

At the end of the meeting, state awards were handed in.
