Rustam Minnikhanov: Goods of Tatarstan enterprises are well-known in Vietnam

On July 18, in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Russian Federation Ngo Duc Manh.   

In his welcoming speech, Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan attaches great importance to developing cooperation with Vietnam under the Russian-Vietnamese relations. “Today, the cooperation in the trade, economic, investment, cultural and humanitarian areas between our countries is expanding. Much work is being done in the free trade area between the member States of the Eurasian Economic Union and Vietnam. The countries agreed to hold the Cross year of Russia in Vietnam and Vietnam in Russia in 2019, dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the signing an agreement on the foundation of friendly relations,” Tatarstan President emphasized.

He expressed his gratitude to the leadership of Vietnam and Russia for their attention to the development of interregional cooperation and added that Tatarstan is ready to contribute to the development of business ties.

According to Minnikhanov, the goods of Tatarstan enterprises such as trucks, helicopters, ships are well-known in Vietnam. In particular, the Zelenodolsk Shipbuilding Plant consigned four “Gepard” frigates to Vietnam.

He emphasized that there is potential for cooperation in such areas as oil refining and petrochemicals, energy, car manufacturing, IT, medicine, agro-industrial complex and others.

Cooperation in the scientific and educational sphere is also of great importance. Today, 124 students from Vietnam are studying at the universities of the republic. A number of Tatarstan universities establish and keep relations with Vietnamese educational institutions.

Minnikhanov also added that about 600 Vietnamese citizens live in the republic. A national cultural society "Doanket" (Solidarity) was established at the Assembly of Peoples of Tatarstan.

Manh congratulated Minnikhanov on the successful holding of the World Cup 2018 in Russia.

The Ambassador suggested developing inter-regional relations between Tatarstan and the provinces of Vietnam, in order to strengthen bilateral cooperation. He underlined that tourism and agriculture are the most promising areas for joint work.
