On July 16, at their meeting in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and Russia's Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media Sergey Kalugin discussed the implementation of the Digital Healthcare programme.

As noted at the meeting, the coordinating committee of the Digital Healthcare consortium is headed by Kalugin. The memorandum on the establishment of the consortium was signed in February 2018.

The Consortium was set up on the joint initiative of the Ministry of Communications of Russia and the Ministry of Health of Russia, with the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media of Russia, the Almazov National Medical Research Centre, the ITMO University, the Faculty of Economics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University and a number of companies being its founders.

The Digital Healthcare national consortium is aimed at developing and harmonizing the main technological standards, by which the digital medicine will be developed in Russia. Testing of proposed technologies and architectures is planned to be carried out in several pilot regions of Russia.

In March this year, Kalugin and Minister of Health of the republic Marat Sadykov discussed prospects of involvement of Tatarstan in the project as a pilot region.
