Tatarstan President holds a number of working meetings in Astana

On July 5, at the EXPO Congress Centre in Astana, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the exhibition of projects of the international financial centre and held a number of working meetings with business circles of Kazakhstan and some guests of the Astana Islamic Economy Forum.

In particular, Minnikhanov discussed prospects of cooperation in the field of Islamic finance with Secretary General of General Council of Islamic Banks and Financial Institutions Abdelilah Belatik.

Tatarstan President invited Abdelilah Belatik to take part in the 11th International Economic Summit "Russia is the Islamic World: KazanSummit 2019" to be held next year and suggested organizing sessions on the implementation of Islamic financing mechanisms at the summit.

At his meeting with President of the Islamic Development Bank Bandar Hajjar, Minnikhanov also discussed issues related to Islamic finance.  They also exchanged positive emotions from the level of the organization of the Astana Islamic Economy Forum. Minnikhanov reminded Bandar Hajjar on his invitation to visit the International Economic Summit: "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit", which takes place annually in Kazan.

The issues of cooperation in the construction industry were touched upon during his meeting with Chairman of the Management Board of BI Group Engineering holding Askhat Omarov, who told Minnikhanov about the main activities of the company and discussed prospects for cooperation in the field of infrastructure construction. At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to look into the possibility of opening a branch of the company in Tatarstan.
