Tatarstan and Kazakhstan reached new agreements

On July 4, Kazakhstan – Tatarstan Business Forum chaired by First Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin and Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov with participation of Tatarstan and Kazakhstan business circles was held in Astana.

“Tatarstan is one of the leading and industrialized regions of Russia. We are interested in expanding of economic and investment ties with Kazakh companies in the area of car manufacturing, shipbuilding, helicopter manufacturing, petrochemical industry, high technologies and others. Today, many of our leading companies, such as Tatneft Oil Company, KAMAZ Automaker and the Kazan Helicopter Plant are operating in Kazakhstan. A resident with participation of Kainar Technologies Company from Kazakhstan, producing batteries is registered in the Alabuga Special Economic Zone. Last year, the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan increased by 40 per cent and exceeded 700 million US dollars. According to the results of the first quarter of the current year, the increase was already 60 per cent and reached almost 200 million US dollars. During our meeting in Kazan, Nursultan Nazarbayev set the task of bringing our trade turnover to one billion US dollars,” Tatarstan President said.

He emphasized that enterprises of Tatarstan have a great interest in expanding trade, economic and investment ties under the Eurasian Economic Union and the development of a common transport and logistics potential.

Deputy Prime Minister of the republic – Tatarstan Minister of Industry and Trade Albert Karimov and Minister of Defense and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan Beibut Atamkulov made a presentation of socio-economic and investment potential of the republics.

A number of bilateral documents such as the Memorandum of Cooperation between the Kazan (Volga region) Federal University and the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Memorandum on cooperation between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Tatarstan and the National Chamber of Entrepreneurs “Atameken”; Memorandum of Cooperation between RariTEK Repair and Technical Plant and Semipalatinsk Automobile Assembly Plant and Cooperation Agreement between the Technopark in the sphere of High Technologies “IT Park” with the International Technological Park of IT Startups “Astana Hub” were signed at the business forum. 

During the Forum, Tatarstan President also took part in the official presentation of the report "Islamic Financial Services Industry Stability Report 2018" and the work of the session “Islamic Finance: the next big step”, under which the Memorandum of Understanding between the Astana international financial center and Tatarstan Investment Development Agency was signed.
