On July 4, at the EXPO ASTANA Congress Centre, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Bakytzhan Sagintayev.

At the beginning of the meeting, Minnikhanov expressed his gratitude to Sagintayev for inviting him to take part in the financial forum and the opening of the Astana international financial center. "I am grateful for your personal attention to the issues of the development of Tatarstan-Kazakhstan cooperation aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Kazakhstan. With the support of the presidents of the two countries our relations are developing dynamically. Three weeks ago, the President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev visited our republic. It was a historic visit for us,” he said.

"We had a detailed conversation with Nursultan Nazarbayev after his visit to the republic," Sagintayev said. "And this meeting can be considered as the beginning of the implementation of the agreements reached."

"We are following with interest the achievements of Kazakhstan and making use of your rich experience and best practices. Tatarstan and Kazakhstan have traditionally had long-standing partnership relations. We are interested in expanding economic and investment ties with Kazakh companies. Last year, the trade turnover between Tatarstan and Kazakhstan increased by 40 per cent and amounted to more than 700 million US dollars. During our meeting in Kazan, Nursultan Nazarbayev set the task of bringing our trade turnover to 1 billion US dollars. We have no doubt that thanks to the development of our mutual cooperation we will be able to solve this common task in the near future,” Minnikhanov stressed.
