On June 25, at his meeting with Ambassador of Poland to Russia Włodzimierz Marciniak, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Tatarstan and Poland have many areas for the development of cooperation.

He also emphasized that these days Russia hosts a bright sports holiday - FIFA World Cup. Kazan also hosts a number of matches. “Many tourists came to Kazan, including those from Poland. This is an excellent opportunity to get acquainted with our country,” Tatarstan President said.

Minnikhanov noted that today a large Tatar diaspora is living in Poland. At the same time, Tatars have been living here for over 600 years. The Monument to Tatars was opened in the Polish city of Gdansk in 2010. Minnikhanov thanked the leadership of Poland for establishing conditions for the preservation of culture and traditions by local Tatars.

According to Minnikhanov, despite the difficult political situation, today there are good prospects for cooperation at the regional level. Thus, the mutual trade turnover between Tatarstan and Poland has already grown by 30 per cent.

“There are a lot of areas for cooperation, such as engineering, auto parts, IT-sphere, agro-industrial complex, medicine that are properly presented. We can find general points of agreement,” he said.

Marciniak said that a number of events of cultural presentation of Poland were organized during the match between Poland and Columbia in Kazan.
