Rustam Minnikhanov asks to check halal marked items for the compliance with the production requirements

23.06.2018

On June 23, at a Saturday meeting held in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov gave a number of errands.

In particular, Minnikhanov asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the republic and its Minister Marat Akhmetov to check halal marked products for compliance with the production requirements. He stressed that halal products are, first and foremost, items produced in accordance with Muslim traditions, without any unacceptable components.

The reason for the inspection was a pork item in a vacuum package with the halal marking made by the Chelny-Myaso Meat Producer (Tukaevsky region of the republic).

During today's meeting, Minnikhanov stressed that the halal marking does not correspond to reality simply because there is no halal pork.

The meat producer has apologized for the error, and has already stopped producing this item while the matter is being investigated. Despite this, Minnikhanov called for more serious attitude towards certification of halal products.

He reminded that many areas of the halal market are actively developing in the republic, including the food market.

Minnikhanov called on the relevant agencies involved in product quality control to check halal marked items.
