A regular session of the Committee on actual problems of the Congress of local and regional authorities of the EC has finished in Strasbourg. Chairman of RT State Council, Deputy chairman of the committee Farid Mukhametshin took part in the event.

Attendees of the forum have studied the European experience in overcoming crisis phenomena at the level of regions and municipalities, discussed the position of the Congress in the sphere of development of democratic processes in several regions of the Southern Mediterranean upon maintaining cultural heritage and development of tourism.

During debating the issue of active participation of young people in socio-political life in European countries Farid Mukhametshin cited the experience of our republic as a positive example of tolerance, respect towards ethnic traditions which have guaranteed stable development over decades.

Representatives of European society displayed interest to preparation for World summer Universiade 2013. Tatarstan is one of the student centers in Russia with dozens of universities and branches of educational institutions focused here. Chairman of the State Council believes that the spirit of competitiveness and ideology of healthy way of life are important factors which unite young people.

Farid Mukhametshin expressed disagreement with stereotyped view about passivity, apathy and political indifference of modern young people. He briefly told about activity of Public youth chamber under the State Council which gave opportunity to young Tatarstaners speak about problems they worry about from the Parliament rostrum.

“A fresh look of young people at the future, modern approaches to management should give impetus to social development. Therefore we have to provide wide opportunities for self-realization,” the head of Tatarstan Parliament is sure.

During the session members of Committee on actual problems of the Congress of local and regional authorities of the EC shared opinions regarding current events in global policy and economy and targeted perspective fields of work.

Within the confines of the session Farid Mukhametshin discussed prospects of cooperation of Tatarstan with European regions via the Assembly of European regions with Chairman of Committee on culture, education, youth, international and inter-regional cooperation of the AER Mrs Hande Bozatli.

Moreover, meetings and negotiations with representatives of working members of the European Council, diplomatic employees of the Russian ministry of foreign affairs were held in the context of the event.
