Rustam Minnikhanov lays flowers at the monument to the great Russian poet Alexander Pushkin in Kazan

On June 6, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in solemn events dedicated to the Russian Language Day and the 219th anniversary of birth of the poet Alexander Pushkin. 

Minnikhanov and Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev laid flowers at the monument to the Great Russian poet near the Jalil Tatar Academic State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

A traditional poetic meeting dedicated to the poet's birthday was held, in which representatives of the intellectuals of the republic, artists, schoolchildren and students took part.

Chief of Staff of Tatarstan President’s Administration Asgat Safarov, Deputy Chairman of the Tatarstan State Council Rimma Ratnikova, Minister of Education and Science of the republic Rafis Burganov, Tatarstan Minister of Culture Irada Ayupova, Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin and other officials took part in the ceremony of laying flowers.
