On June 6, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov addressed residents of the republic on the occasion of the Russian Language Day the 219th anniversary of birth of the Russian poet Alexander Pushkin.

“Dear friends! From the bottom of my heart, I congratulate you on the Russian Language Day! Traditionally, we celebrate this date on the birthday of the genius of Russian literature Alexander Pushkin, who is a symbol of the Russian culture. Having learned the high moral values of the Russian people from a young age, he glorified them in his pieces of writing and opened them to the whole world. Followers called Pushkin the sun of the Russian poetry, spreading its rays over a huge distance and causing an infinite number of large and small satellites to live. His legacy is rightfully one of the treasures of the world literature and the property of the all Russian people.

The Russian culture has brought up a galaxy  of great poets, writers, thinkers. Outstanding representatives of many ethnicities of the Russian Federation noted its positive impact on their creativity and the development of the culture of multinational Russia. The great Tatar poet Gabdulla Tukay is among them.

Pieces of writing of the Russian writer and enlightener Leo Tolstoy became a source of inspiration for many people. Along with Pushkin, he drew inspiration from the life and work of the common people, believed in the boundless potential and talent of people living in Russia. The year of 2018 has been declared the Year of Leo Tolstoy in the republic.

It is important for us to multiply the cultural wealth that is passed from generation to generation and reflected in immortal pieces of writing, to preserve the highest human ideals.

Dear friends! Let the Russian Language Day become a holiday of beauty and strength of the great Russian word for all of us! From the bottom of my heart, I wish you happiness, harmony and kindness! Happy Holiday!”
