On June 5, speaking at a briefing at the Cabinet of Ministers of the republic, Tatarstan Minister of Agriculture and Food Marat Akhmetov said that grain prices increased daily in May.
"We expect the revival of the grain market. The grain market was unfavorable both in winter and in the post-harvest period last year. The grain was sold practically at cost price and even lower. The price increased daily for about 50 - 100 roubles per tonne in May," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
According to him, the price for the third class wheat reaches 9 roubles. "This has not happened since last summer," Akhmetov continued.
The price of the fourth class wheat is 8 roubles, while fodder wheat is sold for 7 roubles. "There is a dynamic. The country has managed to export 49 million tonnes of grain of the previous harvest. New crop export will make 53 million tonnes. And there will be the smallest reserve of carryover grain by a new harvest campaign. We hope that by the beginning of the harvest campaign, the grain market will be more favorable than last year,” Akhmetov said.
