Results of work for the previous year and main activities of the current year have been discussed at a regular session of the Coordination council for affairs of compatriots under RT President. The session was held by Chairman of RT State Council, Chairman of Coordination council Farid Mukhametshin.

Heads of republican parliament stressed much work had been fulfilled since the previous session. A number of events has been held outside Tatarstan and Russia with the organizational support of ministries and agencies, public organizations.

Chairman of RT State Council reminded in accordance with the article 14 of the RT Constitution the Republic renders assistance in development of national culture, language, maintenance of uniqueness of Tatars living outside Republic. By many key areas this activity is being implemented upon close cooperation with Federal agency for affairs of CIS, compatriots, living abroad, and international humanitarian cooperation.

Director of Department for external relations, Aide to RT President Iskander Muflikhanov and Chairman of executive committee of the World congress of Tatars, deputy of State Council Rinat Zakirov told about main results of activity in the sphere of interaction with compatriots in 2011 and tasks for 2012. Iskander Muflikhanov reminded RT President Rustam Minnikhanov had initiated a mission on consolidation of cooperation with compatriots in trade-economic and humanitarian spheres.

It was noted that this year Republic will host several international forums. In particular, a regular session of World congress of Tatars is planned for September, 2012, the international forum of Tatar youth is to be held in August, 2012, the international forum of Russian compatriots is meant to be organized in December, 2012. Moreover, preparation for the Federal Sabantui in Vladivostok, and Days of Tatarstan culture and Turkmenistan, is about to start.

Members of Council discussed some current affairs connected with organization of education in republican universities for compatriots living outside Tatarstan.

In the course of meeting Farid Mukhametshin expressed positive opinion about the work on creating a global information resource network “Tatar ile”. He believes such unified information platform will unite Tatars and, first of all, youth audience around the world.
