Tatarstan President meets President of the BRICS New Development Bank Kundapur Vaman Kamath

On May 28, during his working visit to Shanghai (the People’s Republic of China), Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with President of the BRICS New Development Bank Kundapur Vaman Kamath.

Tatarstan President thanked Kamath for the invitation to take part in the Third Annual Meeting of the New Development Bank in Shanghai.

Minnikhanov briefed about economic and industrial potential of Tatarstan. In particular, he said that today, in addition to development of traditional economic branches of the republic (oil extraction and oil refining, machine building, agriculture), the republic pays special attention to innovative development. This area was also indicated in the Strategy of Social and Economic Development of the Republic until 2030.

He emphasized that Tatarstan is interested in developing cooperation with the New Development Bank and said that the Bank has already approved a number of Russian projects.

According to Minnikhanov, one of the Tatarstan’s projects has also been submitted to the Bank. This is an integrated development project of the territory and infrastructure of small historical settlements in the city of Chistopol, which has recently received the status of Priority Social and Economic Development Area.

Kamath noted that the project for the city of Chistopol has been approved by the senior executives of the bank today. The rest of the projects also have great potential, he said.

Later on the same day, Minnikhanov hold a meeting with senior executives of the Chinese company processing of agricultural produce. During the meeting, the parties considered prospects for cooperation in the area of industry, agriculture and biotechnology.

Tatarstan President also had a meeting with senior officials of the city of Gaoyu (China, Jiangsu Province). The meeting discussed issues of strengthening interregional interaction, exchange of experience concerning the development of industrial sites.

Besides, Minnikhanov held a working meeting with Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Development Bank Andrey Belyaninov and discussed the prospects for cooperation between Tatarstan and the financial institution.
