Rustam Minnikhanov: There are all opportunities for closer cooperation between Tatarstan and Shanghai

On May 28, during his working visit to China, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met Mayor of Shanghai Ying Yong.

Yong welcomed Tatarstan President in Shanghai and emphasized that Russian-Chinese relations nowadays are at a high level and are experiencing the best period in the entire history. According to him, the friendly relations between Head of China Xi Jinping and Head of Russia Vladimir Putin have a positive impact on development of the full cooperation.

Yong added that all conditions for strengthening interregional contacts as part of dynamically developing Russian-Chinese relations were created. “In recent years, cooperation between Shanghai and Tatarstan has been developing steadily, demonstrating growth both in the trade and economic sphere and in a number of other areas,” he stressed.

The Mayor of Shanghai noted that one of the promising areas of cooperation is the exchange of experience in organizing and holding major international sporting events.

Minnikhanov thanked Yong for the meeting and emphasized that today there are all opportunities for closer cooperation between Tatarstan and Shanghai. "It is necessary to strengthen efforts to increase business contacts in the sphere of new technologies, in the field of education. Over 800 Chinese students study at the universities of the republic today. You can increase their number. We are adopting Shanghai's practices in establishing industrial sites and special zones. You have seriously moved forward in this direction,” he said.
