On April 4, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov handed in state awards of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan to veterans and participants of the World War II, workers of culture and art, health, agriculture and public authorities.

Minnikhanov called it symbolic that the ceremony of handing in high awards was held during May holidays. “On May 1 we honor the heroes and foremost workers and on May 9 we honor the memory of the victors of 1945 and congratulate veterans of the war. People say not without reason that the medal for fighting and the medal for labour are poured of the same metal,” he added.

Minnikhanov emphasized that Tatarstan nowadays is one of the leading and dynamically developing regions of Russia. Large-scale investment, economic and infrastructure projects are being implemented and world championships and forums are held. At the same time, special attention is paid to the social sphere. He expressed separate words of gratitude to the veterans of the World War II. "For us, you were and remain example of true and selfless service to our great Motherland," he said and congratulated them on the upcoming Victory Day.

Tatarstan President handed in state awards to 44 people today.
