On May 2, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov expressed his condolences on the death of the former Aide to Tatarstan President Timur Akulov. Minnikhanov sent a telegram to his wife Farida Akulova.

“Dear Farida Shavkatovna!

Please accept my deepest condolences on the untimely death of your husband Timur Yurievich Akulov. A great, versatile man, whose efforts, energy, talent were devoted to our republic and the fatherland, has passed away. During the years of proactive, fruitful work, Timur Yurievich gained the unconditional authority of a true professional of the international sphere, a competent, capable leader in the republic. He stood at the origins of development of foreign economic activity of Tatarstan in the difficult 1990s, did much to strengthen the interaction of the republic with the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Constructive and close cooperation of the republic with the Islamic world was also largely due to Timur Yurievich. A large number of excellent leaders and specialists in the Foreign Affairs Department have grown up under his leadership. His passing is grievous loss for you and your entire family. This is a great loss for our republic, for all those who were lucky enough to meet Timur Yurievich on the labour’s and life’s way. Bright and grateful memory of this kind and strong man remains with us.

I deeply mourn and share the pain of this severe loss with you, your sons and relatives of the dead. I wish you strength and resilience in these difficult days.

Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov”.
