Rustam Minnikhanov: Archive documents are a strategic asset for the state

On April 18, in the IT park in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the International Scientific and Practical Conference “From parchment to digits” dedicated to the 100th anniversary of State Archive Service of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Tatarstan.

Before the conference, Head of the State Archive-Keeping Committee of the republic Irada Ayupova told Minnikhanov and people accompanying him about modern technology used in archiving.

Head of the Federal Agency of Records of the Russian Federation Andrei Artizov welcomed the participants of the conference.

“We, archivists, not only preserve the past but are also looking to the future. The future is inseparable from the new digital technologies”, he said. Artizov also reminded that today there is a task to convert the document circulation between state authorities into digital form.

“Archive documents are a strategic asset for the state. The republic pays much attention to the archives, a special programme for the development of archive-keeping has been adopted. We have some achievements over the past years: we repaired the State Record Office of the republic and municipal archives. The programme on capital repair of archives will be continued. We are actively studying best practices, the most advanced areas to preserved and make available invaluable archive material”, Minnikhanov addressed to the participants of the conference.
