Rustam Minnikhanov: It is necessary to create conditions for rest and ensure the safety of citizens in water bodies

On April 4, at the Kazan Kremlin, speaking at a joint meeting of the Security Council of the republic, the Coordination meeting on ensuring law and order in the republic and the regional Anti-terrorist Commission chaired by Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov, Minister of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations of the republic Rafis Khabibullin reported that the number of deaths at water bodies has decreased by 2.7 times from 259 to 94.

Tatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the regional Council Farid Mukhametshin, Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, heads of ministers, agencies and relevant organizations, as well as heads of municipalities took part in the meeting.

Khabibullin reported that in recent years, all deaths during swimming are registered in undeveloped recreational areas.  To date, there are 35 beaches in the republic, most of them are in camps and sanatoriums. The minister said that it is necessary to increase the number of public beaches - at least 59 more beaches are needed.
