Rustam Minnikhanov about the Safe City hardware and software complex: The decisions made allowed us to significantly improve crime detection rates

On April 4, at the Kazan Kremlin, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov held a joint meeting of the Security Council of the republic, the Coordination meeting on ensuring law and order in the republic and the regional Anti-terrorist Commission, withTatarstan State Counsellor Mintimer Shaimiev, Chairman of the regional Council Farid Mukhametshin, Prime Minister of the republic Aleksey Pesoshin, heads of ministers, agencies and relevant organizations, as well as heads of municipalities taking part in it.

Further development of the Safe City hardware and software complex in municipal regions and city districts of the republic was one of the main topics discussed at the meeting.

Minnikhanov noted that ensuring the public safety is the most important task of the government. The development of modern society is impossible without widespread introduction of information technology in all spheres of life, including security, Tatarstan President continued and added that the Safe City hardware-software complex is one of such examples.

"We have discussed this issue at Security Council meetings many times and have made quite good progress in the development of the surveillance segment. The decisions made allowed us to significantly improve crime detection rates, especially in view of the reduced number of law enforcement officers,” Tatarstan President said.

Minnikhanov appreciated the effectiveness of this system. In 2017 alone as many as 669 crimes were solved and 5,476 administrative offenses were revealed with the help of surveillance cameras.

Making a keynote report at the meeting, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic Rustam Nigmatullin said that the development of the Safe City complex envisages the availability of four basic functional units, including public safety and municipal (communal) infrastructure, transport security, environmental safety, coordination of work of the agencies and their interaction.
