Tatarstan President meets senior executives of Ferring Pharmaceutical Company

On March 22, during his working visit to Switzerland, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov visited the headquarters of Ferring Pharmaceutical Company.

Being a world leader in peptide and endocrine research, the company is devoted to developing and marketing innovative products in reproductive and maternal health, urology, gastroenterology, endocrinology and orthopaedics.

During his visit to the company, Minnikhanov was told about the company's history, the process of production of drugs, quality and safety control of the medicines produced.

The company has brought 14 drugs in three therapeutic areas, including assisted reproductive technology and obstetrics, urology, oncology and gastroenterology to the Russian market, where it has been successfully operating for 20 years.

In Tatarstan, Ferring is represented by Nanopharma-Development Company, which has its production facilities in the Himgrad Technopolis.

Minnikhanova was also informed about a new Sever project on the organization of production of active pharmaceutical substances by methods of enzymatic and organic synthesis. At the suggestion of the Kazan Federal University, a potential site has already been chosen in Kazan. As part of the project, a production centre will be equipped with laboratory and experimental equipment for the production of three active pharmaceutical substances, including for the transplantation of organs and tissues, at the first stage. To date, these substances have not been manufactured in Russia. Currently, pre-project work is underway. The production facility is planned to be launched in 2021-2022.

At a meeting with Board Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Ferring Company Frederick Paulsen, opportunities for further development of cooperation were discussed. Minnikhanov noted that one of the promising areas is the introduction of halal standards in the healthcare sector and pharmaceutical industry in particular. He stressed that this topic is planned to be discussed in more detail on the sidelines of the 10th International Economic Summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit", which will be devoted to the halal way of life. Tatarstan President invited the representatives of Ferring Company to take part in the summit.
