Tatarstan President meets the medical community of the republic

On March 12, during his visit to the educational and laboratory campus of the Kazan Federal University, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a meeting with the medical community of the republic.

A new campus opened in the buildings of the former military hospital in Kazan. At present, the buildings house the departments of the Institute of Fundamental Medicine and Biology of the Kazan Federal University, which can be conditionally divided into educational and research blocks. Students of the university will have classes in new teaching facilities and experimental operating rooms.

A unique educational and research centre for experimental medicine "Wet Lab" with operating rooms for animals and sites for the accreditation of graduates of the institutes of fundamental medicine and biology was open in one of the buildings. 

"These buildings were erected as hospitals in 1842 and will serve for medicine, meeting the purpose for which they were intended. The facility was put into operation, taking into account the geographical location and the historical background. I think this is a very good project. We held a lot of meetings with the team and district sessions,” Minnikhanov said at his meeting with healthcare workers.

Over the past six years, major modernization of health facilities was carried out in Tatarstan with more than 2,260 regional medical facilities repaired and equipped.

During the meeting, the representatives of the healthcare sector made a number of proposals to improve the system of rendering medical care in the republic. The meeting discussed issues related to raising demography, reducing infant mortality, forming a healthy lifestyle to reduce the number of patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases. Also, the participants of the meeting paid special attention to the personnel training and digitalization of the health care sector.

Tatarstan President gave an errand to relevant ministries and departments to look into the voiced proposals.

Summing up the meeting, Minnikhanov noted the need to continue holding similar meetings to form a professional opinion on the industry development strategy.
