Rustam Minnikhanov: People appreciate our efforts to improve public spaces in the republic

On March 9, speaking at his meeting with participants of the first International Investment Forum of Architecture and Design SIYUM at the Korston Entertainment Complex in Kazan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that people appreciate large-scale work done in the republic to improve public spaces. Minister of Construction, Housing and Utilities of Russia Mikhail Men took part in the event.

Before to the meeting, Minnikhanov and Men attended the exhibition at which various technologies in the field of architecture and design, information about the training of industry specialists in Tatarstan, projects of young architects were presented.

During the foresight-session, eight presentations, covering a variety of topics such as the development of the design industry, the management of urban development, the development of historical heritage, the professional communities and others were presented to the guests of the forum.

Speaking at the event, Minnikhanov stressed that the living standards are improving every year and that there is a need for comfortable spaces such as parks, squares, developed urban environment.

"Ten years ago we did not even think about these tasks. The capital of Tatarstan has changed greatly recently. Much was done before the 1000th anniversary of Kazan celebrated in 2005. However, it turned out that not all of our decisions were correct. This was not intentional, rather because of ignorance. Today we have a completely different approach to many questions," Minnikhanov said.

According to Tatarstan President, the development of public spaces and yards is very important. "The population appreciates all that changes such as the reconstruction of embankments, the improvement of parks. We must actively use the experience of foreign partners, study the gain experience of Russian regions. Today there is a growing need for professional staff. We see that there are a lot of young specialists," Minnikhanov added.

The SIYUM forum, which will last till the 11th of March, aims at developing the architecture and design industry for further global environmental changes and strengthening the position of Tatarstan as a region with high creative potential, increasing its recognition on the international architectural and design arena.
