Rustam Minnikhanov travels in one of trolleybuses in Kazan

On February 28, before taking part in the 24th session of Kazan City Duma, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov together with Director General of Metroelectrotrans Asfan Galyavov travelled by trolleybus and assessed the quality of urban electric transport. Minnikhanov used his smartphone to broadcast the trip online through instagram.

Galyavov told Minnikhanov about the ways the passengers can pay the fare (cash and transport card). He also said that in the nearest future new payment terminals will be implemented in the urban electric transport (they will issue the cash voucher).

The trolleybus park was almost completely renewed in Kazan in 2017.

At the end of his trip, Minnikhanov answered journalists' questions.

“It is necessary to improve the culture of public transport. There is a dedicated traffic lane for public transport. There are new comfortable means of transportation. Today, such vehicles as buses, trolleybuses should be competitive because not a single city can manage with a big road traffic. We will continue to pursue this policy - the priority of public urban transport, everything to be done in the interests of people using public transport. Today, good work is also being done to train staff for the urban electric transport. The excellent repair base and service agencies have been created.  There must be the quality of passenger services,” Minnikhanov said.
