Fishman reminded that on the 17th of January, at the Forum of Small Towns and Historical Settlements in Kolomna, Moscow Region, it was decided to hold a contest of projects for the improvement of small towns and historical settlements in 2018 and that the Russian Government will allocate five billion roubles for the best project.

To participate in the contest, small towns and historical settlements should prepare projects for the development of specific public spaces based on the study of the cultural and historical heritage of the city. One of the key evaluation criteria of a project is its public support, as well as public discussions. Projects will be evaluated by the federal commission.

As many as 60 small towns, including 20 historical settlements, will become winners of the contest.

Fishman said that Tatarstan has chosen territories that can participate in the contest, including historical settlements and small towns with a population of up to 100,000 people. She cited such cities as Chistopol and Yelabuga as an example.

Tatarstan President gave an errand to organize work with municipalities, explain them how to prepare for the contest. According to him, it is important to have a road map for carrying out preparatory work and meeting the necessary requirements to take part in the federal contest.
