13.02.2018

On February 13, speaking at a meeting of the local Council of Zelenodolsk municipal region dedicated to the results of social and economic development in 2017 and tasks for 2018, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov said that Zelenodolsk region is one of the largest municipalities of the republic with its own specific features.

Minnikhanov noted that the Zelenodolsk region has a number of competitive advantages, in particular, geographical location and proximity to Kazan. However, despite this, the region still has a great potential in terms of business development. Thus, Zelenodolsk lags far behind other municipalities in terms of the share of small and medium-sized businesses. Tatarstan President urged local senior officials to look for new ways to increase entrepreneurial activity among the population. There are all infrastructure conditions for that, he added. In particular, several industrial sites are functioning, new territories for business development are under construction.

"There is the interregional multimodal logistics center in Sviyazhsk. We plan to attract a Turkish management company there to create new jobs and bring additional revenues to the local budget,” Minnikhanov said.

According to Tatarstan President, special attention should be given to the development of the agro-industrial complex. In general, the region has positive indicators due to large farms such as the Maisky Greenhouse and the Ak Bars Poultry Complex. However, there is still a lot of work to do in the field of personal households development.

Tatarstan President continued that apart from Zelenodolsk region, agricultural producers can sell their goods on the market in Kazan. He also added that it is planned to open an agricultural park in Zelenodolsk in the next two-three years.

Another important area of work that requires continued focus from the municipal authorities is education. Tatarstan President appreciated the indicators of Zelenodolsk region in this matter.

Zelenodolsk region has good experience in the improvement of yard territories, Minnikhanov continued. "You involve people in this process. It is very good. The mood of people depends on the environment where they live,” he said.

Summing up the meeting, Minnikhanov gave an errand to the local leadership to pay special attention to the demographic improvement, the modernization of the housing and utilities infrastructure, the development of tourism, and to continue work to resettle people from dilapidated houses.
