On February 9, speaking at a regional meeting in the Government House of the republic, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov asked road maintenance services and heads of municipalities to intensify their work on snow cleaning.

Minnikhanov noted that after heavy snowfall the utility services put the main roads in order. However, there are a lot of complaints from people about poor snow cleaning in yards and urban settlements. Especially it concerns the capital of the republic, he added.

According to the First Deputy Prime Minister of the republic, a meeting of the staff to eliminate the consequences of an abnormal snowfall is held regularly in the republic. "Kazan reports regularly. There is a special schedule for cleaning yards, work is underway with the main management companies,” Rustam Nigmatullin said.

Head of the Executive Committee of Kazan Denis Kalinkin reported that 73 per cent of the yards have been cleaned. "There are still a lot of work to do. As for settlements, the situation is getting better, but there are still some problem areas. On Sunday, we plan to get all the work done," he added.

In his turn, Minister of Construction, Architecture, Housing and Utilities of the republic Irek Fayzullin  reminded that last year the regional road maintenance services received 207 units of special equipment. "This has yielded results not only in Kazan, but in other municipalities as well," he said.

Minnikhanov noted that this year it is planned to allocate additional funds to repair utility and cleaning equipment.
